New WordPress - What's New in 6.0?

New WordPress is an update that brings many features and upgrades. The main site editor has changed, adding selectable blocks, a code editor, and preferences. It also provides better placeholders for different blocks, including comments. Comments are now placed within the query loop, incorporating the author's name and avatar, comment content, and an edits link. The new editor also includes a block for ALT text and the ability to change the order of subblocks.

Block editor

The Block Editor is a new feature that makes it much easier to create, edit, and publish your content in WordPress. Its new usability features make it much more versatile than the Classic Editor. For one, you can customize the way that you use the editor. You can toggle between editing in Fullscreen mode and editing in a normal view, and you can toggle between theme-specific styling and frequently-used Blocks.

The Gutenberg editor has a wide range of blocks, which make it much easier to create and edit content. It is named after John Gutenberg, a goldsmith turned publisher from Europe who invented movable type block printing, creating a revolution in publishing and printing around the world. The project was named after him because of the way that it made it easier to create and modify posts.

Reusable blocks

If you're moving from an old WordPress installation to a new one, you can import your existing reusable blocks to your new site. These blocks are stored in the database and can be updated just like any other post. In case of a change in design, you can easily edit reusable blocks using the same tools and features.

Reusable blocks save time and give consistency to your site. Most WordPress bloggers and designers often add similar snippets of content to different article posts and page posts. This makes it easier to create unique pages that can be duplicated across different sites.

Text selection

Changing the color of the text selection on your WordPress website is easy. The best way to do this is to use CSS code. This can be done without any prior coding knowledge. Simply copy and paste the code in the right place, and your WordPress text selection will be a different color. Alternatively, you can go to HTML Color Codes to find a list of colors and apply them to your WordPress website.

WordPress has had a text selection option for years, but it has been lacking in some features. One feature that has been missing since the launch of the block editor is the ability to select text from multiple blocks at once. Previously, you had to use the copy/cut tool to grab the text and block code. But now, with this new feature, you can select text in multiple blocks at once.

ALT text

When you're using WordPress, you have the ability to add ALT text to images. This text shows up as a tool tip to visitors who are using screen-reading software or have difficulty viewing images. It can also help those with vision impairments understand the meaning of the image. Here are some ways to add ALT text to images in WordPress.

First of all, always use a descriptive title for your images. This way, search engines will know what the image is about. Also, be sure to use relevant keywords. If you are using an image to promote a product, make sure to use the product name or product ID.

Style variations

The style variations feature introduced in WordPress 6.0 allows theme authors to offer a range of pre-designed design options to their customers. Users can select a variation from a map, which will change the site's appearance. Since the new feature is integrated into the core theme, it is easy to apply to the entire site.

Style variations have three new options: Default, Outline, and Squared. They will be available in the Inspector Panel, or the top-left button. These options will allow developers to customize the look and feel of a page without having to resort to code. A developer can also choose to use global style variations instead of child themes.
